So, it wasn’t as scary as what people claimed!

One year ago, I had a wisdom tooth popping out from my right gum. Food kept dropping into the tiny gap causing unbearable pain in my gum. The leng chai dentist told me to leave it as it wasn’t affecting the others.

One year later, the tiny wisdom tooth has grown bigger and now there’s isn’t enough space to accommodate it. causing more pain when the gum swells.

Me: It hurts me when it swell.

Doc: Hmm.. Ok, extract lor.

Me: Extract? Ok! Extract!

Wahlau.. we both made it sound selamba only. He didn’t inform me what to expect, I didn’t ask and we had the surgery fixed weeks later.

Had my breakfast before the extraction – maggi curry. lol. Wanted to have a proper meal before the appointment, something like dim sum perhaps (since i expect couldnt eat proper food for a week), but was too rush to do so.

X-ray taken after 3 rounds of local anesthetic, numbing the right side of my cheek, gum, tongue and lip.

The dentist then further explain there is 1% chance of cutting the nerves resulting in permanent lost of senses at the lower right jaw. Then I have to sign “Consent for Surgery”. Wtf.. so serious ok!

Spent the next 15 mins with my eyes closed. He made a cut around the tooth and some drilling sound was heard. He then stitched up the wound and everything was done in a blink of eye.

He cut it into 2 before removing it! The tiny fragment in the picture above is actually part of the tooth.  And the 2 roots are sort of joined together. Looks bit yellow here due to contrast setting.

Surprisingly it’s not hurting badly. 9 hours after my last pain killer that is. Similar to the pain i endured pre surgery. Just lil bit of swelling around the surgery area. Oh well, i reckoned I have high tolerance towards pain i guess!  Look puffy now and experiencing difficulties when make up coz i couldnt apply too much pressure on my right cheek. Else, everything is perfectly fine.

Gave me some antibiotics & anti swelling medicines for the next whole week. Extra pain killer if I ever feel like dying from pain (touch wood, so far so good!). Antibacterial mouthwash to rinse twice a day.  And Medical bill came to RM 510 wtf!

Had porridge with mui choi & zha choi (salted vege) plus salted egg for dinner. No problem with eating as long as I chew on the left side. Just couldn’t open my mouth too big, thats all!

Gotta get back next week to remove the stitches and I shall attempt to ask for photo with the leng chai dentist again. Well, I kinda chickened out today. T__T

I have a minor surgery planned on 28th April. Hate the idea of calling it a “surgery” because it’s actually extracting my wisdom tooth. The word “surgery” and 3 days MC (!) scares the shit of me. And my colleagues who share their experiences do not help either.

Considering to photograph the process, errr, with the dentist’s permission of course. Then I could blog it over my MC period where i would basically do nothing at home except moaning in pain

Well.. look at the positive side.. at least the surgery will be done by my leng chai dentist That means spending a good whole hour with him.
