GREAT HONGKONG FOOD – AUSTRALIA DAIRY CO. & TASTY CONGEE & NOODLES
August 14th, 2010 | 2 Comments
Having been to Hong Kong twice and done all the touristy stuff, i went there for the third time at the end of June with one aim – to eat as much as I can!
And I did!
So off I went with some research I did beforehand, roaming round HK island and Kowloon searching for some of best food <3
# 1 – Australia Dairy Co., Jordan
Judging its #1 place at Openrice forum, ADC is pretty sure a char chan teng is not to be missed and must-visit for all foodie while in HK.
There were huge crowd at 2 pm. However, the line move very quickly and I got a seat (sharing with other ppl is very common in HK char chan teng) in less than 5 mins.

The restaurant is very pack but the waiters working super efficiently. I picked the Tea Set at $28 that comes with Scramble egg & Ham with toast, Char Siew Spaghetti plus coffee/tea (additional $2 for cold drinks). Like almost instantly, ok maybe 10 seconds later, my orders arrived! It is almost a sin to take your own sweet time to scan through the menu, indulge your food in this little outlet.

Iced Milk Tea.
Spaghetti with Char Siew, cooked al-dente in diluted Campbell canned soup. I personally like it very much, light and satisfying!
ADC’s most famous dish – signature scrambled eggs, serve alongside pieces of perfectly toasted pillow soft bread. When I did my research, many claimed that it the best scrambled eggs in HK, if not the world. I kid you not! ADC’s scrambled eggs are the fluffiest and lightest that I have ever eaten. So smooth, moist and tasty, couple with the ham, it’s just all-so-yummylicious!
As the name suggest, how could any visit to Australia Dairy Co. be complete without trying their dairy product. I opted for the cold steamed milk pudding, which is super smooth and light with strong milk aroma. What a perfect way to end a meal!
# 2 Tasty (IFC) Congee & Noodle Wanton Shop 正斗粥麵專家
I was recommended to this restaurant in IFC by a friend and she was describing it as one of the best congee in HK. So when I was doing some great shopping in IFC, I decided to pay it a visit.
By then, it’s already 10 pm and all the shops were closing in IFC. But when I got up to level 3, the crowd waiting outside Tasty was as good as dinner-waiting crowd!
To not fight with everyone else, I ordered take away from a separate counter and went back to Tsim Sha Tsui with goodness in hand
Credit must be given to all HK food outlets for the way the pack their take away food. All food are carefully stored in nice tupperware to retain its texture, heat, taste and ready to be eaten anywhere. My congee were placed in a typical Styrofoam bowl as seen in most HK movie/ drama. Wantan noodle and soup were packed separately to prevent it from being soggy.
I ordered the pick-your-own congee with fish and meatball. Congee is very smooth and fine, fish is so fresh and meatball perfectly marinated! However, the ingredients were added into the plain congee hence the reduced flavoured in the congee compared those cooked in the porridge from the beginning.![]()
Thumbs up for their wantan noodle! Still springy and crunchy texture even after travelling 1 hour from Central to Kowloon! Broth is clear with just the right amount of flavour for my liking! Shrimp wantan is good, each with large shrimp – tasty and firm to bite
